These are the traditional older style suspenders with a single strap from the middle of the back to the trousers (Y-back). Welch suspenders started in 1967 in Portland, Oregon. Traditionally, in the Northwest, anyone showing up to join a logging crew wearing a belt instead of suspenders was sent home as too green to work with the crew.
