Lined Yard Coat, Rigid Olive
Prison Blues has introduced a lined version of their Yard Coat in Olive canvas. Designed to keep you warm in cooler weather, the coat has a polyester batting behind an outer face of 65/35 polyester/cotton twill.
Prison Blues offers their yard coat made from a 100% cotton canvas. Styling is identical to the #1132 Yard Coat, in a fabric that is pliant even before the first wash. This jacket is your perfect utility coat. It's not meant to look fashionable, it's meant to get the job done. Loose fitting by design, you'll be comfortable while actively working or doing chores. All stress points are riveted for durability. The coat buttons in the front. The extra long sleeves have buttoned cuffs that can be turned back. There are two chest pockets: one buttons shut and the other is open for convenient carrying of tools, phones or other items. There are also two handwarmer pockets. Machine wash warm, tumble dry. The lined coat is pre-washed. (Expect about 2-3% additional shrinkage after initial washing.) 10 ounce, 100% cotton canvas, 65% polyester, 50% cotton lining. Color is Olive with tan lining. Prison Blues -- Made on the Inside to be worn on the Outside
Prison Blues was formed by the State of Oregon in 1989 as a way to create jobs for the Oregon Correctional Institution.
The factory, located at the Eastern Oregon Correctional Institution in Pendleton, Oregon, is 47,000 square feet and produces many garments including shirts, jeans and hats. Each inmate must pass a detailed hiring process. They are then trained by managers with private industry experience.
By purchasing a Prison Blues garment, you get a quality product made by inmates who take pride in their work. You are also supporting a program that teaches inmates valuable working skills that they need to become contributing members of society.

The canvas used in the Prison Blues garments is woven at Mount Vernon Mills from 100% US grown cotton. Mount Vernon Mills, located in Trion Georgia, was established in 1847 and is now the largest denim manufacturing facility in the US. The Rigid Olive Canvas is 100% US cotton canvas in a 10 ounce weight. Canvas is a tightly woven fabric, stronger than denim, with two yarns in the warp and one in the weft. Although a tighter weave than the 14.75 ounce Rigid Denim, the Rigid Olive Canvas is a lighter weight resulting in a more flexible fabric and very comfortable garments.
