Taos Leather, formerly Cordon y Cuero, was founded and operated for years by the husband/wife team of Larry and Jaya Knapp. Larry and Jaya spent time in Ibeza, Spain in the 1970's where they leant the skills of leather craftsmanship. While in Spain, Larry developed his unique snake belt, with its rounded outer side and flat inner side. The Knapps returned to the US, locating in Taos, New Mexico where they continued to produce sophisticated leatherwork, with Larry's specialty continuing to be belts and Jaya producing fine leather jewelry. Their daughter, Anyma, is now taking over operation of the company, continuing to produce fine leatherwork.
