Lightweight Merino Sock Liner
These lightweight socks, knitted from a combination of 65% Merino wool, 32% nylon and 3% Lycra, are dual purpose. The socks are extremely lightweight, making them ideal as a liner sock under our heavy wool socks for the ultimate in warmth and comfort. The liner reduces friction between your skin and the sock, helping to prevent blisters. The added moisture-wicking layer increases warmth and comfort. The sock liners also make ideal travel socks. Lightweight and fast drying, travelers can hand wash, remove excess water by wringing with a towel then leave to air dry overnight. No need to pack multiple pairs of socks! Sock length is 9 inches from heel to top of sock. 65% Merino wool, 32% nylon, 3% Lycra. Machine wash warm (wash inside out.) Tumble dry low. Made in Canada.
We recommend wearing these sock liners with our heaviest cold weather socks, the 50 Below Socks and the 40 Below Arctic Trail Socks.

Sock Sizing
Numerical sock sizes are given as the length of the foot in inches. This length does not correlate precisely with shoe size, as the fit depends on both the stretch of the sock and width of the foot. J.B. Field's wool socks are made to stretch and adapt readily. If you are at the top of the range for a size, and your foot is wide, take the next size up. If you are at the bottom of the range for a size, and your foot is narrow, take the next size down.

Merino wool
Merino wool is a very long staple, very fine wool from the Merino sheep. Merino sheep have been bred in Australia to produce extremely fine wool. Merino wool, particularly when twisted into a worsted yarn, is smooth to the skin. The fine fibres are soft, and the long staple gives fewer ends, reducing any irritation from loose ends.
Wool yarn for knitting or weaving falls into two general classifications, woolen yarn or worsted yarn. Woolen yarn is formed by drawing it from fibers with a random orientation, giving a yarn that is fluffy, with fibers in all directions. Worsted yarn is drawn from combed fibers, giving a yarn with fibers running along the length of the yarn, and is thus much denser and smoother than woolen yarn. Garments knitted from worsted yarn have a smooth dense fabric and wear extremely well.
