Bracelet Sizing

One of the most frequent jewelry related questions we receive is “Will this bracelet fit?”.   Generally, most people are comfortable with a bracelet circumference about an inch larger than their wrist circumference.  The guidance given below, and the bracelet sizing given with each bracelet, will help determine the bracelet fit.

Wrist Circumference

The first step in determining whether or not a bracelet will fit is to measure your wrist. 

Measure the circumference around your wrist where you will wear the bracelet, measured while your fingers are spread.

Peoples’ wrist sizes vary greatly.  Generally, most women’s wrist sizes range from 5-3/4 to 7-1/2 inches.  Most men’s wrist sizes range from 6 to 8 inches.  If you are giving as a gift, and don’t know the recipient’s wrist size, please scroll down for our guidance on estimating the wrist size.

Bracelet Circumference

For bangle and chain bracelets, the bracelet circumference is just the measurement around the bracelet, the devolved length.  A few of our bracelets, such as the Woolly Mammoth Ivory Bracelet, are adjustable.

For cuff bracelets, the bracelet circumference is the devolved length of the bracelet plus the gap width.  With most cuff bracelets, the gap width can be adjusted slightly for a customized fit.

Fit

Generally, people like about a one inch difference between wrist and bracelet circumference.

A few of our bracelets, such as the #N744B Raven Bracelet are quite wide.  Customers with hour glass shaped wrists might not find these comfortable.

Some of our bangle bracelets have no clasp and are slipped onto the wrist.  In these cases the circumference around the hand, at the widest part should be measured.  This hand size must be less than the bracelet circumference in order to wear the bracelet.

Measure the largest circumference around the hand.

Slim wristed people have one additional challenge with cuff bracelets.  If the cuff bracelet gap is greater than the wrist width, the bracelet might slip off.

The #N810B House of Wolf Bracelet has a 1.5 inch gap and slips right off this 5.25 inch circumference wrist that is just 1 inch wide.

We give the bracelet size in all our bracelet descriptions.  There will be a little variation, especially with the gap measurements of cuff bracelets, as all our bracelets are hand crafted.  Most of our bracelets are sized to fit moderate wrists but we do have some for slim wrists and some for large wrists.

Bracelets for Slim Wrists (less than 6 inch wrist size)

Bracelets for Moderate Wrists (6 to 7.5 inch wrist size)
